kirbyourmovies: Ciara in "Mama, I Want to Sing"
This should be an interesting film. . .Just to see if Ciara has any acting talent. Here's the trailer. . .to me it's a little cliche, but the message is all too commonly overlooked by society: be yourself.
This film is based on the hit off-Broadway stage play by Vy Higginsen. It was loosely based on the career of her late sister, R&B vocalist Doris Troy, whose big hit was 1963's "Just One Look." The musical ran for eight years at Harlem's Heckscher Theater, making it the longest-running off-Broadway black theater musical in history.

kirbyourconcerts: Beyonce sings "Halo" in Sydney to a little girl with leukemia
OMG. . .My wife is truly a good woman. There was not a dry eye in that arena and definitely not by my computer. . .And the most wonderful thing about Beyonce is that she doesn't do this type of stuff for publicity or so that people will talk about her on the news. She did it because she is a good person and because she wanted to. And to all her haters, keep drinking that Haterade if you want because my girl is going to keep doing her regardless of what any of you has to say. She is a good person and I hope that this video gives you a glimpse of what an awesome person she is. . .

kirbyourshenanigans: SMH. . .Kanye West being totally disrespectful to Taylor Swift
Now I'm sure by now you've heard about Kanye's total disrespect for Taylor Swift at the MTV 2009 VMAs. I'm just glad that my wife Beyonce was the classy lady that she is and gave Taylor her time for her acceptance speech. . .Now, I WAS a Kanye fan, now I AM not. And although I agree that Taylor shouldn't have won (and that's my opinion), Kanye shouldn't have done that. That was classless and a total disrespect to not only Taylor but to her fans that voted (hello!!!) and Beyonce, because he had no right to stick her in the middle of it. I'm just glad that my wife saved the day and hopefully Kanye learns to keep his mouth closed.
Now don't get me wrong. I'm all for freedom of speech. But I'm also a huge proponent of class, and he had NONE! To get up there live and do that just shows that you can take someone out the hood, but you can't take the hood out someone. . .smh
Just in case you haven't seen it I posted the video blow. If you like to see it again, it's below. So watch and enjoy!

kirbyourmusic: James Morrison "Songs for You, Truths for Me"
Now I've always been a fan of this little white man. From his debut album "Undiscovered", the title truly embodies this "undiscovered" gem--that is, he's not constantly followed by the mainstream media (*cough* John Mayer *cough*). His raspy, soulful voice makes your panties wet (just kidding, but really), but more importantly, what he sings about is truthful to himself. So that's why when I found out about his sophomore album (please excuse me if I'm a little late, I mean he's "across the pond" for goodness sake! lol) I had to jump on it. And the title of the album "Songs for You, Truths for Me" made me melt like a Hershey's Kiss in the microwave. . .And if the title wasn't enough, the songs were just as awesome. He's truly an artist that sticks to his craft and does it very, very well. . .Sidenote: He could get the business. . .and that's no joke. . . lol. So if you like "Blue-Eyed Souls" just as much as I do, then download his album, sync, listen and enjoy!

kirbyourmusic: Wyclef Jean's "Patwa Swagga Mixtape"
While up in NYC, I occasionally listen to the radio. . .just to see if there's anything I like that I haven't stumbled upon yet. And guess what? I have. . .Just goes to show you that you can learn anything at any time. But anyways, while listening to Hot 97 I happen to hear some Caribbean music. Well apparently there was this Caribbean/West Indian parade going on in Brooklyn and Hot 97 was there celebrating, dancing, and playing music. But on top of wondering why have I not heard about this parade until then, I started to hear this mixtape because they were premiering it on the radio. I was jumping and dancing wondering who the heck this was. . .Then it was announced that it was Wyclef Jean. I was shocked. . .Don't get me wrong I like Wyclef, but he's not someone I would called one of my favorite artist. So I was even more excited when I heard that his mixtape was free online! Now I loved that. . .Free AND good music. . .hard to come by. Anyways, I, being the ever-giving blogger of music (j/k) wanted to share this good music with you. . .So download, upload to iTunes, sync it with your iPod/iPod Touch/iPhone, relax and enjoy the sounds of the Caribbean. . .

kirbyourchoreographer: Tucker Barkley
Tucker Barkley. . .simply amazing. If I could have his babies, I would. . .lol. They would be cute, limber, loose, dancing babies. When I get enough guts, I'll go take one of his classes but for right now I'll just stick to admiring him. . .Enjoy!

Now the fusion of music and dance this something that is near and dear to my heart. . .If I ever get the chance to do both on a very large scale, I will be eternally grateful to God. . .But until that day (if it comes) I always enjoy looking at music videos with amazing choreography. The song by itself is mediocre (I'm sorry but there's is nothing special about it) but the fusion of music and dance in this video is what makes this song awesome!!!! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

kirbyourthrowbacks: Janis Joplin, The Original "Blue-Eyed" Soul. . .
I'm in a 60s mood right now (mostly when I'm feeling very Zen-like, lol) and I happened to stumble upon this oldee-but-goodee: Janis Joplin's "To Love Somebody". Now I remember some years ago BET had this segment called "Blue-Eyed Soul" in which they showed music featuring white artists singing R&B/Soul. The line-up included Jon B., Christina Aguilera, Pink, and N'Sync, to name a few. However, now I just realized that they left out a very important woman, the originator of "Blue-Eyed Soul": Janis Joplin. This woman would and still could have you feeling some type of way. . .She was a deeply troubled woman but she let you know through AMAZING music that in this struggle between Love and Life we are not alone. . .So sit, relax, and enjoy the wonderfulness of Miss Joplin.

kirbyourmusic: Radio Virgin
"In the beginning of time there was quiet. It was an erie calm that held on as long as it could across the whole universe. Then...Bam! There was a gnarly explosion. So gnarly that when the dust cleared there was rock. Then, millions of years later, there was rock music!"
-Radio Virgin
Radio Virgin, a Chicago and LA-based music group has really caught my attention over the past 3 months, and it's not just because one of my friends is a guitarist for the band (although I thank him for introducing me to his band!). When I listen to their music, it evokes a style-fusion that you don't see much nowadays. . .a kind of 60s psychedelic funk in a 21st century life. . .displaced in time but rightly so. They make you fall in love with them through that kind of Zen-like feeling and incantation of psychedelic kings and queens like Mr. Hendrix, The Beatles, and Janis Joplin but with a 21st century ambiance with the likes of John Mayer and Adam Levine. . .This is a band I hope you all enjoy and support (as I will/do!)
You can find them on Facebook (become a fan!) and on MySpace (www.myspace.com/thehellavision) to friend them and listen to their amazing music!!!

kirbyourupdates: kirbyourenthusiasm is making the transition to an all music blog!
Hello bloggers/subscribers,
First off, I'm sooo sorry I've been off on my updates. The life of a jack-of-all-trades, master-at-none is not an easy one. . .Had to get upon my grown-up grind and take care of some business. . .lol. But I'm back now and ready to take it to the next level with my blog. . .
I originally intended for this blog to be something of a catch-all blog that really alludes to my personality. However, as I'm making my way into this world, I'm realizing that MAYBE (and you have to understand that this is a BIG one for me, lol) I want to master something: music. I've always loved music, and combined with dance, there's nothing more amazing that I'd rather do. . .So I dedicating this blog to bringing you all updates on the new/hot things in the entertainment/music/dance industries because although I'm not usually into the whole pop culture scene, the craft I've started to fortify lends itself to outside influence. . .Because what we all need to realize is that NOTHING is completely new. . .Everything is sampled and/or borrowed from something else. So the things that I post on my blog from this point seriously influences my craft and what I hope to become; whether it be positive or negative. . .So sit back, relax, and let me kirbyourmusicenthusiasm. . .
